St. John's Choir and Byzantine Chanters

Music Ministries

Music plays an integral role in the liturgical life of the Orthodox Church, lifting our hearts in prayer and uniting us in worship. At St. John the Baptist, our music ministries support the beauty and reverence of our services through both choral singing and traditional Byzantine chant.

  • St. John’s Choir – Led by Elsa Libowitz, the choir offers liturgical hymns during the Divine Liturgy. All who enjoy singing and are committed to participating regularly are welcome to be part of this important ministry.

  • Byzantine Chanters – Our chanters lead the services in the traditional style of Byzantine chant during Orthros, Vespers, and other services throughout the year. This ministry offers a unique way to serve the Church through prayerful chanting.
