Ministries - Youth Programs - GOYA

The GOYA ministry is the group for the children between the ages of 12-18. In addition to fellowship, which is promoted through various sports activies, such as the St. John's basketball team, as well as participation in a yearly Pan-Orthodox volleyball tournament, there is a great emphasis on giving of one’s self in service to others. To this end, the children participate in three or more community projects during the year, which may include, but are not limited to, various activities such as volunteering their time by setting up and serving food to the homeless at the Fullerton Armory, or taking Christmas gift to the children of St. Jude's Hospital.

We are all very proud and thankful to these outstanding leaders and give them our full support. It's going to be a great year and we hope to have many along for the ride. After our elections, we enjoyed a quick pizza lunch and took off for miniature golf at Camelot. Our next meeting will be Oct. 4 in the small hall and we will be going to Laser Tag following the meeting and lunch. Bring $$ and a change of clothes.

There are a limited number of tickets, be sure to get yours before we run out. If there are any unsold tickets, we will open it up to friends and family outside of church on the last Sunday before the event.

Also, Mr. Steve Bangos will be signing up kids for this years basket ball season. Please see him in the fellowship hall after church if you're interested in playing for GOYA.

Look for more information and reminders to come from our president or corresponding Secretary. Please forward your or your child's cell phone number to us so the board can communicate any details to all members in a timely manner. This will be the main method for communication amongst the kids, and email will be for the parents. So please be checking your email and messages frequently. There may be times when you may get notified about something last minute, possibly the night before, and we would hate for anyone to miss out on some fun event GOYA may be attending. Of course, this will not be the norm. We will get most of our information out with plenty of notice. Again, I ask everyone to please forward me any email or contact information for other children who may also want to participate in our GOYA activities.

Thank you for all the support, and we are looking forwards to working with you all. Please feel free to contact any of the advisors below with any questions.
